Preparing for Care Information Day

14th September 2023 10am to 2pm      Poldhu Care Home, Poldhu Cove, Mullion, Cornwall, TR12 7JB

Looking for the right care package can be a difficult and confusing time that often leads to more questions than answers. Who pays for the care? What is the most efficient way of investing your money to pay for care? Who can make decisions if the person needing care is not able to? What is life like in a care home? How well trained are the staff in care homes?
Swallowcourt are working in conjunction Brooks Financial Planning Limited and TLS Solicitors to provide you with some of the answers.
Speakers

Adam Brooks – Brooks Financial Planning

Paying for care can be an expensive long-term commitment so it’s important to get financial advice from a specialist as early as possible. Whether you’re concerned about saving for future care home fees or facing the possibility of needing to pay them now, Adam will talk about how a financial planner can help you and your family make the best choices.

Sophie Campbell – TLS Solicitors

Sophie will be talking about the importance of wills, trusts, probate and lasting power of attorney to provide a legal framework for looking after our interests and wishes as we get older

Sarah Devine – Training Manager at Swallowcourt

Sarah will be busting the myth that Health & Social Care workers are the “unskilled’ work force by talking about what training is required when working in this sector. Sarah will talk about the impact of training in the Health and Social Care sector, the training that we offer at Swallowcourt and also the training that is available to our residents families and friends.

Kim Pankhurst  – Head of Operations at Swallowcourt

Kim will give an overview of what life is like in a care home and will answer some of the common questions that people have about life in a care home. Do I have an input on my care plan? Can I still go out with my family and attend special events? What if I don’t like the food on the menu?

After the group sessions, there will also be an opportunity to book a 15 minute one to one chat with the speakers.
