In April, the Swallowcourt family came together for a spectacular day of celebration, gratitude, and laughter at our annual Hero Awards.

This past year has brought extraordinary challenges, from battling severe storms to navigating the daily complexities of care. Through it all, our dedicated teams have consistently gone above and beyond to ensure the safety, comfort, and happiness of our residents. The Hero Awards were designed not only to recognise these incredible achievements but also to provide a well-deserved opportunity for everyone to let their hair down and have some fun.

Bringing Our Values to Life

The event was a perfect blend of heartfelt gratitude and lively entertainment. To connect the celebration back to the core principles that guide us, the day featured a variety of interactive activities reflecting the daily work lives and philosophies implemented across our homes.

Among the highlights was a hilariously chaotic game of blindfolded Twister, which tested everyone’s teamwork and communication skills. Attendees also gathered around the “Dream Big” table, an inspiring space dedicated to sharing aspirations for our residents and homes, embodying our commitment to continuous improvement and person-centred care.

A Team Effort

The smooth running and vibrant energy of the day were thanks to the organisation of Alex Davies, Group Marketing Manager, who ran the event with invaluable support from Lynsey Beesley.

We were also privileged to welcome some very special guests who joined us in honouring our staff: Clive from Citizens Advice and Richard from Cornwall Partners in Care (CPIC). Their presence highlighted the strong community partnerships that support Swallowcourt’s mission.

Honouring Our Heroes

The pinnacle of the day was the awards presentation, led by our Managing Director, Kim Pankhurst. Kim took the stage to share moving tributes to the nominees, highlighting the profound impact of their dedication over the last year.

  • The Finalists: Every single finalist was recognised for their outstanding contributions and presented with a specially designed, exclusive Swallowcourt Hero’s pin badge to wear with pride.
  • The Winners: The category winners were met with rapturous applause as they stepped up to receive their beautifully crafted Hero Awards trophies.

The energy in the room was a testament to the incredible bond shared by our staff. While only a few walked away with trophies, the day was a celebration of the entire Swallowcourt community. Thank you to everyone who makes our homes such warm, safe, and vibrant places to live and work. You are all heroes!
