There’s double cause for celebration at Swallowcourt, as both the team at Ponsandane Care Home and the wider Swallowcourt group have been named Regional Finalists in the prestigious Great British Care Awards 2026, South West region.
The Ponsandane team has been shortlisted for the Care Home Team Award, which recognises a care team that exemplifies a shared vision, strong leadership, person-centred practice, and a commitment to dignity and respect for every resident. The nomination highlights the team’s warmth, professionalism, and the close-knit, family atmosphere they’ve built at the Penzance home.
Meanwhile, Swallowcourt as a whole has been selected as a finalist in the Palliative Care/End of Life Award category; a powerful recognition of the compassionate, thoughtful, and dignified end-of-life care provided across all six of the group’s Cornwall homes.
“It is such a privilege to be recognised in not one but two categories this year,” said a spokesperson for Swallowcourt. “To have the Ponsandane team celebrated for their incredible teamwork and daily dedication, alongside our organisation-wide commitment to end-of-life care, means the world. These awards are a wonderful tribute to every single member of our team who shows up with kindness and heart, every single day.”
The Great British Care Awards are the largest and most prestigious awards in the social care sector, celebrating excellence across the UK and shining a light on the unsung heroes who make such a difference to people’s lives. Regional winners go forward to the national finals later in the year.
“We are immensely proud to be finalists,” the team added. “Whatever the outcome on the night, being recognised among so many outstanding care providers across the South West is an achievement in itself, and one we share with our residents, their families, and our wonderful communities here in Cornwall.”
