Life at Breage House

Our home offers a warm, calm and welcoming atmosphere. With 15 individual bedrooms spread across two floors, Breage House is purposefully designed to be spacious and accessible. Each room is different in size and layout, and residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with their own furniture, decorations and belongings.

The home includes a sensory room, open-plan communal living areas and fully accessible lifts. Outside, the gardens feature a large lawn with shaded areas for alfresco living during warmer months – with seating areas, and a gazebo where residents can relax, enjoy nature or socialise with others.

Food & Nutrition

The home’s kitchen prepares a varied menu sourced from local ingredients wherever possible. All meals are freshly prepared and cooked with a choice of courses and there is nutritional guidance and support. Residents have access to the kitchen to make themselves snacks and drinks.

Activities & Hobbies

We shape activities around the individual’s likes, interests and abilities, supporting them to do the things that they love and enjoy. Whether engaging independently or in small groups, meeting with family and friends.

Our activities programme is shaped around the interests, abilities and preferences of our residents. From one-to-one sessions to group events, we offer a wide range of opportunities for engagement, learning and fun.

Personal Care

At Breage House, we recognise that every individual has unique needs, preferences and aspirations. That’s why we use a person-centred approach to care planning and daily support.

Each resident has a detailed care plan developed in collaboration with them, their families and professionals involved in their support. This plan includes
everything from medical and personal care needs to emotional wellbeing, communication preferences and life goals.

Our care is flexible and responsive. Plans are regularly reviewed to ensure they reflect any changes in the resident’s needs or wishes. We work in partnership with health and social care professionals to ensure that all aspects of support are joined up and delivered with consistency.

Care at Breage House

Breage House is registered and regularly inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). As part of Swallowcourt, we are committed to providing high standards of care and continuously improving the services we offer.

Our team receives ongoing specialist training in learning disabilities, epilepsy, autism, behaviour support, specialist care, where needed, and complex care. Many of our staff have worked with us for years, building meaningful and trusting relationships with residents and their families.

We welcome feedback, suggestions and compliments, and have a clear, accessible complaints procedure for anyone who wishes to raise a concern. Our goal is to ensure every person living with us feels safe, respected and at home.

Brondi Sheehy

I have worked in Healthcare for over 17 years having qualified as a Nurse more than 10 years ago. After working in different settings, I came back to the care home setting as it is my passion. Being able to support residents and their loved ones, ensuring that they have the best possible experience in our home and feel a part of our community is extremely rewarding.

I thrive in challenging situations and pride myself on my adaptability. I encourage our team to always look for the positives and what we can learn from every situation. This enables the home to constantly move forward and embrace new challenges, it allows the team to grow and feel pride in their work.

Prior to joining Poldhu I previously held the position of Registered Manager at our sister home in Penzance, Ponsandane.
