Life at The Poldhu
The Poldhu has a warm, welcoming and relaxing environment, with a vibrant community of residents, relatives, staff and friends. Set in 10 acres of grounds overlooking Poldhu Cove on the Lizard in Cornwall, the home has spacious lounges, a beautiful dining room and comfortably decorated bedrooms, with sea views.
Activities & Hobbies
We work with residents to develop a varied programme of activities and hobbies ranging from exercise classes to art sessions to excursions. The Poldhu also welcomes a regular stream of visitors into the home including community groups and clubs and often hosts events and functions.
Food & Nutrition
The Poldhu’s Head Chef has worked at the home for over 25 years and has a wealth of experience in understanding the dietary requirements of older people. He and his team work hard to provide nutritious food and a varied menu, sourced from local ingredients wherever possible. All meals are freshly prepared and cooked with a choice of courses.
Personal Care
Our aim is to look after you and your individual care needs to ensure you receive the very best care possible. Care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and we work with you to develop a comprehensive care plan based on your needs, which is assessed with you on an ongoing basis.
Care at The Poldhu
At Poldhu, we understand that looking for a nursing home is a big step and you may have a lot of questions. We welcome you to visit Poldhu, meet our team and discuss any concerns you may have about the difficult decision you have to make. Let us know your individual needs and requirements and we can support you to find the right care package to suit.
We always felt confident about discussing with the staff, matters relating to Mum’s care and as well as considering important issues relating to her health, there was always plenty of humor and good feeling which I know Mum was able to share.

Meet the Team at Poldhu
Poldhu’s management team are on hand to answer any questions that you may have and support you when needed.
I have worked in Healthcare for over 17 years having qualified as a Nurse more than 10 years ago. After working in different settings, I came back to the care home setting as it is my passion. Being able to support residents and their loved ones, ensuring that they have the best possible experience in our home and feel a part of our community is extremely rewarding.
I thrive in challenging situations and pride myself on my adaptability. I encourage our team to always look for the positives and what we can learn from every situation. This enables the home to constantly move forward and embrace new challenges, it allows the team to grow and feel pride in their work.
Prior to joining Poldhu I previously held the position of Registered Manager at our sister home in Penzance, Ponsandane.
