Turning the Page at Poldhu Care Home

A major milestone has been reached in the restoration of our coastal care home Poldhu in Mullion,as rebuilding work officially begins following the damage caused by Storm Goretti.

After the severe weather left the property without its roof, the start of reconstruction marks a significant step forward for residents, staff, and the wider community. Heavy lifting equipment and specialist contractors arrived on site this week, carefully positioning the new roof structure as part of the next phase of works.

Amazing drone footage shows just what the contractors are facing with the build and highlights the stunning views our residents have from the building.

Residents at the home were given a front-row view of the activity, with many watching the progress unfold throughout the day. Staff described a renewed sense of optimism, with the atmosphere shifting from uncertainty to excitement as the building begins to take shape once again.

Despite the disruption caused by the storm, the resilience of the Poldhu community has remained evident. Families, staff, and local supporters have rallied around the home, offering continued encouragement during the recovery process.

Management at Poldhu Care Home expressed their gratitude for the support received and confirmed that the focus remains firmly on restoring the home to the highest standard, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all residents.

With construction now underway, there is growing anticipation that the home will soon return to its former condition, stronger, safer, and ready to continue providing high-quality care on the Cornish coast.
